How do I schedule a medication every few hours or on certain days?

On the eMAR page, edit the medication and choose At set times, Every few hours or Every few days, with an optional last day and pre-dose checks.

Short answer

On the eMAR page, open Medications and add or edit the medication. Under How often, choose At set times (on every day or only the days you pick), Every few hours (for example every 6 hours starting at 6:00 AM), or Every few days. Add a last day for a short course. The Next doses list under it shows exactly what caregivers and the MAR will see.

Step by step

  1. Open eMAR and choose Medications.
  2. Tap Add Medication, or open a medication and edit it.
  3. Choose Scheduled times, then pick how often under How often.
  4. Set the times, the hours between doses or the days between doses.
  5. Optional: set a last day, and add a check before each dose such as pulse or blood pressure with hold limits.
  6. Check the Next doses list, then save.

Good to know

  • Every few hours runs across midnight, so every 6 hours from 6:00 AM is 6:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 6:00 PM and 12:00 AM, and each gets its own row on the MAR.
  • Every few days counts from the medication's start date.
  • Checks before each dose: the caregiver enters the reading when recording. Outside your hold limits the app suggests holding the dose and calling the nurse; a check marked Required must be filled in.
  • As-needed (PRN) medications have no schedule; set the most doses per day and the hours between doses instead.
