1. Summary

The AveeCare Home Care Toolkit is a free browser extension providing reference information (state EVV rules, medical billing codes, home care acronyms, license-portal links, BLS wage data, and NPI registry search). This privacy policy describes what data the extension does and does not handle.

2. What the Extension Collects

Nothing about you. The extension does not collect, transmit, or store personal information, browsing history, page content, or any identifiers on AveeCare’s servers. We do not use analytics or telemetry inside the extension.

3. What Stays on Your Device

The extension uses Chrome’s chrome.storage.local API to remember your preferences (last-selected state, hover-mode toggle) and your recent lookup history (capped at 20 items). This data is stored only on your device. You can clear it at any time from the extension’s settings.

4. Outbound Network Requests

The extension makes exactly one kind of outbound request, and only when you initiate it: NPI Registry searches go directly to the public CMS endpoint at npiregistry.cms.hhs.gov. These requests contain only the search criteria you type into the NPI form. They are not routed through AveeCare. CMS’s own privacy practices govern that endpoint.

5. No PHI, No Account

The extension is not a Covered Entity or Business Associate interface. Do not enter Protected Health Information into the extension; it is not designed for that use. You do not need an AveeCare account to use it.

6. Permissions

The extension requests only the minimum Chrome permissions needed: storage, contextMenus, sidePanel, activeTab, scripting, and a single host permission for the CMS NPI registry. It does not request access to all websites.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, call them out in the extension’s Chrome Web Store “What’s new” notes.
