Do nurses need office access to record medications?

No. Nurses sign in to the app as caregivers and record doses on the visit's Medications tab; their permission group needs Client medications and eMAR.

Quick answer1 min readUpdated for AveeCare
Short answer

No. A nurse who gives medications on visits uses the AveeCare app like any caregiver: they are assigned to the visit and record each dose on its Medications tab. Their permission group needs Client medications and eMAR turned on (Accounts, Permissions tab). Their license type is printed next to their initials on the MAR. Office access is only needed to record on the eMAR page for someone else, or to correct an entry.

Step by step

  1. Add the nurse as a caregiver and enter their license type (RN, LPN and so on).
  2. Open Accounts and choose the Permissions tab.
  3. In the nurse's permission group, set Client medications and eMAR to Allow.
  4. Assign the nurse to the visit. During the visit they open the Medications tab and tap Record for each dose.

Good to know

  • Sees the medications but no Record button? The visit has not started yet. Recording opens when the visit starts and stays open for a while after it ends.
  • No Medications tab at all? Check that eMAR is on in Settings and that the permission group allows Client medications and eMAR.
  • Controlled medications: a medication that requires a witness asks for the witness's name when it is recorded as Given.
