How do I rename a group chat, add people, leave a chat or hide it?

On the Messages page right-click a chat or press its three-dot button to mute it, rename a group, add or remove people, leave a group or hide it; hide only removes it from your list, and a new message brings it back.

Open the Messages page and right-click the chat, or press the three-dot button on its row. Choose Mute, Rename, People, Leave or Hide. Hide removes the chat from your list only. The messages stay on file, and a new message brings the chat back.

Step by step

  1. Open the Messages page.
  2. Right-click the chat, or press the three-dot button on its row. On a phone, press the three-dot button.
  3. Choose what you want: mute, rename a group, add or remove people, leave a group, or hide the chat.
  4. To bring a hidden chat back at once, press Undo in the message that appears.

Good to know

  • The person who made a group, and office staff in the group, can rename it and add or remove people. Anyone in the group can leave.
  • Every rename and every change to the people shows as a line in the chat, so everyone can see it.
  • A group keeps between 3 and 16 people.
  • A person you add can read the earlier messages. A person you remove can no longer see the chat.
  • Hide only changes your own list. Nobody else sees it, and no message is deleted.
